What to say and what to -write first for the show for the actors, for their work, theauthor, space, music … the list goes on! Let’s start from somewhere: the thirdwreath, the project established his author and placed him among writers of his generation. Costas Tachtsis, had proposed the novel in 3 (!) Publishers whorejected it. Until issued in 1962, with his own money!
Genre painting and historical, sensitive and moving, everyday and archetypal at the same time as it presents through the personal lives and experiences of two women(Ekavi and Nina), the modern history of Greece. Sometimes decisive in the foreground, sometimes as background history and needs. The Macedonianstruggle, the Balkan wars, Asia Minor, Second World War, the Occupation. All three marriages of Nina. By last wife, the son of Ekavi Logos. Tied, interdependentliving. Full autobiographical elements work with the main Ekavi Longos, whoseTachtsis bases his grandmother who raised him.
The success of the novel we know it. Interest for the cinematographic transportationwas shown but once from Melina Mercouri, without an attempt. Rearranged for the radio starring Rena Vlachopoulou and Smaro Stefanidou. In 1995 adapts to theANT1 television, directed by John Dalianidis with Nena Menti (the role of Nina) and Leda Protopsalti (the role of Ekavi). Last winter we saw at the National Theatre.Great show, from the very first to the last (Nena Mentis, this time embodied the roleof Ekavi). Directed by Stamatis Fassoulis. The show went sold out.
And to get untill now: the show up again at the Pallas Theatre on September 28for a few performances. Those who didin’t saw they have to rush, such jobs are not done every day.
